Ibex (formerly Photo Storage Saver) is a free app for iPhone and iPad that finds duplicate and oversized photos and videos in your library and helps you reclaim storage — entirely on your device. Download it on the App Store.
Email joshuateller@icloud.com with any question, bug report, or feature request. Please include your device, OS version, and what you were doing when the issue occurred.
Where do deleted photos go? Everything the app removes goes to Photos’ Recently Deleted album, where it stays recoverable for around 30 days. The app never bypasses this.
Why didn’t a video get smaller after compressing? The app refuses to replace a video unless the re-encoded file is genuinely smaller. Some clips are already efficiently encoded — those are reported as “already optimal” and left untouched.
Does the app upload my photos anywhere? No. Analysis (duplicate detection, compression) runs entirely on your device, and your photos and videos are never uploaded. The app sends only anonymous crash and usage diagnostics — never photo content, filenames, or anything that identifies you. See the privacy policy.
How much does it cost? Nothing. Every feature is free — no caps, no trial, no subscription, no in-app purchases.
