Dockly collects only anonymous usage analytics — nothing that identifies you, and nothing used to track you. We operate no servers of our own and run no advertising SDKs. We use Google Firebase Analytics to measure how features are used so we can improve the app (details below). This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
Dockly uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used. We integrate it without the advertising identifier (IDFA), with ad-personalization signals turned off, so it is never used to track you. On our behalf, Firebase collects coarse, anonymous information: feature-usage events (for example, starting a trip or accepting a reroute), an app-instance identifier, an approximate location derived from your IP address (city or region level — not your GPS location), and basic device and session details. Dockly has no user accounts, so this data is not linked to your identity. It is processed by Google as described in Firebase’s privacy documentation and Google’s privacy policy. Deleting the app stops this collection.
Dockly uses your device location to show nearby bike-share stations and to compute routes. Your precise GPS location is processed on your device. To calculate routes and search for destinations, coordinates are sent to Apple’s Maps services (MKDirections / MKLocalSearch) in real time, governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Your precise GPS location is never sent to us, to our analytics, or to any third party other than Apple for routing. (Firebase derives only an approximate, IP-based location — see Analytics above.)
When you ride to a dock with turn-by-turn guidance — from your iPhone with “Start on Apple Watch” enabled, or directly from the Apple Watch app — Dockly records the ride as an outdoor cycling workout with Apple HealthKit, so rides count toward your Activity rings and you can see live heart rate and pace on your wrist. All workout and health data (heart rate, distance, energy) stays in Apple’s Health store on your devices, under your control in the Health app. Dockly never transmits health data anywhere — not to us, not to analytics, not to any third party. You can decline the Health permission and every navigation feature still works; only the workout recording is skipped.
Live station availability comes from the public GBFS (General Bikeshare Feed Specification) feed. These requests contain no personal data, identifiers, or cookies.
Dockly is free and offers no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Your settings, recent destinations, saved places, and an in-progress trip snapshot are stored locally on your device (and synced to your Apple Watch over Apple’s device-to-device channel). Your Apple Watch also keeps a short-lived local snapshot of nearby station availability and your last location fix, so results appear instantly when you open the watch app; it never leaves the watch. Deleting the app deletes all of this.
If our practices ever change, this page and the App Store privacy label will be updated before any change takes effect.
